The Appreciation that Comes When You're Gone

I have the rare privilege of knowing just how valuable of an employee I am. I made friends, of sorts, with the supervisors of my last job. They have kept in contact with me throughout the last 3 years here and there. Today one of them sent me a text message asking if/ when I can come back. After 3 years. Wow.

:::self hug:::

They've had high turn-over since my leaving. And today they just lost another. I think everyone has had a job that they've thought "man, they'll be sorry when I'm gone...". Lucky me, I know this for a fact! While I do feel bad for them... They are nice guys, very kind to me.

Buutt...

They were buttholes!!

Had they been Great, or even halfway decent bosses, I would be sympathetic right now. But they weren't, so I'm not.

For my 4.5 years of ...
...making them look good
...getting dumped on from the kick-the-dog syndrome
...being told I have to do the impossible
...being my 1 bosses shrink
...being my other bosses personal assistant
...and for all the times I was forced to come in early, stay late, and work through my lunches all for free

I would just like to say

Take it Shawn & Gus!

mind the promo, the show is.. oh-so-sadly... *sob* over >>>runs off crying<<<

All vengeance aside, it really does feel good knowing that. For starters, my happy little rear end may end up nearby in the not-so-distant future (like October 2015-ish), and I may end up needing their appreciation to keep the bills paid. Second, maybe they would treat me a little better the 2nd time around now that they see just how much I did for them.

Does it ever work that way?
