Latest Workout Things

Like all resolutions, something that you don't LOVE doing is going to go to the waste-side eventually. Working out is that 'thing' for me. I quit for a while and now I'm trying to get myself back into it.

  • I know working out will keep my muscles strong for long term health assurance.
  • I know working out will send off endorphin's that will help keep me happy.
  • I know working out keeps my heart strong and opens up my lungs (at least some partial help to the damage I inflict on those poor puppies).
  • I know working out will help me physically tire out so I have less insomnia problems.
  • I know working out will make me physically more confident in how I look (especially since the work pants are getting tighter again).
  • And my #1 reason I work out: It starts with 10 pounds!
What does that mean? It means you see yourself as 10 pounds overweight and think, "Eah, that's not so bad. Almost everyone I know is gaining a little weight lately. I'm busy, that's all."

Then it's 20 pounds heavier. Ooh, that's not good. But I just don't have time.

Then you wake up one day and you're 200 lbs heaver than you were 15 years ago. You think, 'Jesus, how did I let myself get this way?' The answer is you accepted that first 10 pounds!! Not this girl! It ends here!

I still cannot get myself into finding working out 'fun', but I'm going to do my best to keep it interesting for myself.

Added Variety into my routine:
I have finally joined the ranks of smart phone users (BIG CHEER FOR ME!) and Love Nike's Fitness App!  Their basic challenge kicked my butt; couldn't even finish it and was sore for days!

I have also finally joined the Zumba ranks. I bought Zumba for Wii. While I don't think it's picking up my movements very well, I still am enjoying it and glad I bought it.

(I'm sure more apps will be found soon, but I haven't had the time yet).

By adding variety I seem to be more encouraged to work out. It's not the same "jump on the treatmill' or 'run in place. Adding these challenges keeps me gong.

I also really like how both Zumba and Nike Fitness have achievements you can unlock as you workout. For some reason that's motivating me to want to use it more.

Yay for motivation!
