My blogging started for two reasons.
First- To give me something to do while my husband was deployed.
I keep a diary but a blog is easier to pull up if I have an urge to write at work. Plus a diary is more of a record of all your deep personal thoughts. I try to keep that dirt to myself. My blog idea was just a thought of, "Hey, I might have some good information of things I learn through life or research. May as well share it in case someone else might find it useful too."
Second- To help me keep track of all of the books I'm reading.
With my husband gone, my free time for reading has flourished. I started looking for new books to read and I sought out a list of good historical romances. Does anyone out there have a page online that says "yes, read!" or "Ugh, don't waste your time" to help me out? I couldn't find such a page of like-minded readers who mostly devote themselves to historical romance. I decided to start my own blog for the same reason above- maybe someone will find it useful. If not, oh well- I have a great tracking of what I'm reading at least.
What I am enjoying best is it's keeping track of how many books I'm reading since my husband left. I've read 31 books in 5 months, not including the few I read halfway then put down because of bad story plots. Now for the deeper question: is spending that much time reading a good thing? Especially spending that much time reading books considered by many to be "trash novels". Hm. Should I boast about this or be embarrassed by it?
