The holidays are in full force and so far my survival skills are going strong.
I'm knitting a scarf for a friend. She chose the pattern (design) she liked best & even bought her favorite yarn. All I'm doing is the busy work to keep my mind busy.
I finished another term of college and aced Algebra. Considering I failed it in high school, not bad. But that ends a key distraction project for the next few weeks.
Several of my friends and I volunteer for a charity which funds music and arts in our school systems. They just held a big auction. I drove up to LA and spent 12 hours with my friends to pack up and ship out all of the items to the winners. Thank God for Priority Mail so my friend doesn't have to stand in line for hours this holiday season. (Though she will still have about an hour for our 1st class mail. USPS- we need to buy THOSE stamps online too, and not through a company that would charge us like stamps.com.) That took up a whole day's worth of work.
And boy look at my house. Clutter everywhere and my shoes are in deep need of shining- my navy husband would be disappointed in me for letting them get so bad.
Is it exciting? Well, the trip to LA was a bit of a thrill seeking moment in traffic. Aside from that, no. But it's in giving that we receive. By helping others I'm keeping my brain occupied and it helps myself.
And I'm so tired today that the only thing I WANT to do is sit on the couch and veg out. I don't even want to think. Actually I'm so tired it's a chore to string together complete sentences for this blog. There's something to be said for exhaustion, too.
