I've been living in San Diego for 11 months. I've decided a few things in that time frame.
1. I'm a country girl, I don't like the big city. People around here scoff at me, "San Diego isn't a big city! It's got a small city feel!" Maybe a small city is too big for me, too, then, cause I hate it. Too many people, and all of them are ignorant to the world around them and in too much of a hurry.
2. I H-A-T-E driving out here. I miss the rush and crush of Interstate 90 toward Chicago now, something I used to fear. The mentality seems to be, "get out of my way before I hit you", and "be prepared to break the break because I'm going to cut you off without warning". The part of being cut off explains why no one can merge out here, either.
3. People of Southern California are very introverted (they keep to themselves).
4. Diverse culture does not make for more open minds
5. Homeless people are surprisingly more friendly and less crazy than I had thought. Don't get me wrong, many are still crazy and grumpy. Perhaps it's just compared to the limited interaction with Chicago homeless they're friendlier and less crazy.
6. Many navy wives are bat-crap crazy. But I guess you have to be, at least a little, to join into a relationship where the person you love will be gone at least half of your relationship.
