Why we drive instead of flying:
And hopefully my girlfriend won't kill me me for adding her to my blog; she is one of my favorite visits of our trip, after all. For those who saw Groundhog Day, this photo was taken in the same place as the movie was filmed in Woodstock, IL (she lives there, I used to). Oh, and I will smack the next person that says we're sisters; we have the same hair color, that's it. That does not make us sisters! Dumb people annoy me.
I didn't get to eat all the fatty foods I'd hoped for; I was just too busy visiting friends and family. Not necessarily a bad thing, since my husband gained 10 pounds on what we did feast upon. Oops, sorry dear.
Boy do I miss home now. This will, sadly, most likely be our last "visit". Visiting next year would be a waste of money; 6-7 months post that visit we'll (hopefully) be living there again. Better to save that money for any potential moving expenses and the new things we'll need. Things like shower curtains, toilet scrubbers, a microwave (military provides one for us currently), and replacing any items broken in the move will all need to be anticipated.
It was easier this year saying goodbye than in the past. Best guess as to why is that I'm accepting my situation more, and learning to appreciate San Diego's perks, such as being 2,000 miles from my mother & her drama- really hard to beat that. Perhaps it makes me a bad daughter, but I'm OK with that. Beats the years lost stressing over the trouble my mom causes, both in her life and in others.
The only real downer: I really have nothing to look forward to for a long while, and that can be a very discouraging way to live.
