My wonderful military home comes complete with an extra sink / vanity area just outside our upstairs bathroom. It's wonderful space & storage, but only in theory. In practice it's a nightmare. I'm trying to do my make-up while my husband's stomach is 'waking up'. We're both uncomfortable about that. It also has no door to the bedroom, so I cannot use it if my husband is sleeping. Not so practical after all.
After a year of trying to make it work, I packed up my things and moved to the half bath downstairs. But (see previous post photo) it's about the size of a small walk-in closet. I have just enough space to move around, but 0 storage. Not ideal for all those girly bathroom thing needs.
My solution:
* 1 3M wall hook
* 1 shower caddy
* 2 3-tier storage container
* some empty kleenex boxes, tops cut off
* 1 empty mouthwash bottle (or something similar), cut half the top off
* about 3 Dollar Store plastic storage baskets

I kept the storage organized as my stuff on the left, general use stuff on the right, so my husband doesn't have to see my 'feminine care' items every time he grabs the aspirin.
I've been storing my make-up and hair essentials (extra hair ties, bobbie pins) in little plastic baskets for years. Easy to clean when make-up gets all over them; dishwasher. I rinsed out an old ketchup bottle and cut it in half for storage for my bobbie pins, too.
All my needs organized nicely for easy access and kept in 1 small bathroom. I admit the shower caddy isn't the prettiest of wall decor, but we must work with what we have. If anyone has ideas on making that part visually more appealing, I'd love to hear it!
