DIY Jewelry Cleaner that works!

I have been searching for a DIY/ Homemade jewelry cleaner for a while. Most popular is ammonia, but I don't have any and never remember to pick it up. In past I've tried apple cidar vinegar with some baking soda. It felt clean, like it had removed my skin oils, but didn't look all that shiny. So today I continued my quest.

The method I found the most I ended up trying. Props to blog Tara Being Tara for being the final blog with this cleaning method that convinced me to try it.

1 cup water
1 tbsp baking soda
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp dish detergent
a bowl (the blog recommended glass but I just pulled out a Tupperware dish)
aluminum foil to cover the bottom of the bowl
a nail file (optional)

Heat the water in the microwave for 2 minutes. While it's heating place your chunk of tinfoil at the bottom of your dish. Grab a nail file and file your nails for 1 minute, 30 seconds.

Pour the hot water onto the tinfoil, then add the baking soda, salt, and dish detergent. Stir ingredients together (I used the tbsp to stir) and add your jewelry. Set your timer for 5-10 minutes (I did 8 minutes) and let your jewelry soak. Finish shaping/ filing your nails.

When time is up rinse the jewelry in cool water and pat dry with a towel.

THE RESULTS:

99% of my jewelry is costume jewelry, except for my wedding ring. I took the risk and chucked it in with the rest of the jewelry. I wish I could capture its sparkle on camera now! This TRULY is my favorite jewelry cleaning method! TAKE THAT $25.00 chemical jewelery cleaning products!
